holy, where have I been?!

July 9, 2010 at 5:59 pm (Uncategorized)

Has it really been 2 months? Oops! I’m super busy, so I’m just going to take the time to do a Summer Favourites!

Activity: Swimming! We recently got an above ground pool, so I’ve been in there a lot.

Book: I’m reading “Mable Riley: A Rebiable Record of Humdrum, Peril and Romance” by Marthe Jocelyn. I’m loving it.

TV Show: Glee! Within the past month I’ve been getting into it. Though there are only reruns at this time, I still enjoy watching it.

Clothing item: Graphic Tees! I’ve been throughing on clothes quickly, so they’re perfect. I found some super cute ones with funny sayings or cute cartoon-ish pics.

Hangout: Reid’s Dairy. I’ve been eating tons of Frozen Yogurt in this heat.

Summer Item: Coconut Oil-free sunscreen, and my berry flavoured SPF 15 lip balm.

That’s it for now. Tell me your summer favs!

Anne Itinerary

May 10, 2010 at 3:26 pm (Uncategorized)

So, just recently I read the book Anne of Green Gables and adored it! I found out this cute “Anne Itinerary” on peitourism.com, of Anne related thinGs to do and places to go when you are in Prince Edward Island! It also includes must-buy Anne items.

Anne Itinerary

Day One

Drive to Cavendish (Green Gables Shore) through the beautiful pastoral farmlands that L.M. Montgomery made so famous in her books. Your first stop will no doubt be Green Gables in Prince Edward Island National Park. Here you will find preserved the gabled house that inspired the setting of Montgomery’s story of the red-haired orphan. Allow lots of time to explore the house and grounds with the Haunted Woods, Lovers Lane, interpretive programs, films on L.M. Montgomery along with gift shops and a snack counter.

Not to be missed in Cavendish is the Lucy Maud Montgomery’s Cavendish Homestead where relatives of the author, John and Jennie Macneill, still reside and offer guided tours of the grounds and the opportunity to purchase books from their bookstore.

Avonlea Village has recreated the type of rural community where Anne lived (music, wagon rides, candy shop and animators in heritage buildings).

Keep your eyes peeled in the Cavendish area, as Anne and Diana are often seen greeting tourists and performing small vignettes. In early July, the L.M. Montgomery Festival is in full swing with special events taking place that are tied to the author and her famous fictional character.

Day Two

Today, you can follow in Montgomery’s footsteps, visiting the charming little home in New London (Green Gables Shore) that was her birthplace displaying her wedding dress and personal scrapbooks.

In the Park Corner area visit the Anne of Green Gables Museum at Silver Bush where you will find artifacts from L.M. Montgomery’s time spent with at this home of her relatives, the Campbells. Allow time for tea and shopping while on this property at the Shining Waters Craft Shop & Tea Room, which also offers special wedding packages arranged in the parlour where L.M. Montgomery herself was married. Here also, you can enjoy Matthew’s Carriage ride around the Silver Bush property, down by the Lake of Shining Waters or overlooking pastoral farmland on the way to a beach.

Also in Park Corner is the Lucy Maud Montgomery Heritage Museum, Lucy Maud’s Montgomery-family home. Original furnishings, many featured in “Anne” books, including “Magog” (the china dog), “Rosebud-Spray Tea-Set”, autographed first editions, and much more. Hosting “Anne’s Perfectly Scrumptious Wild-Rose Tea Party” with Anne of Green Gables Treasury author Jul and Aug.

At Gateway Village in Borden-Carleton you can fulfill a lifelong urge to have long red braids, as Cavendish Figurines invites you to have your photo taken while dressed as Anne. In Lower Bedeque visit the Lower Bedeque Schoolhouse where L.M. Montgomery taught school. Look around at the old furnishings, books and written materials.

And in Bideford the local community has restored the Parsonage and opened it as a museum. Montgomery lived there in the late 1800s and the site is also a fund of information on the lifestyle of the era and the Island’s shipbuilding industry.

Day Three

Plan to finish your tour in Charlottetown and spend the day touring the craft and gift shops looking for the perfect Anne memorabilia. (Watch for the tags that confirm the product has been officially authorized by the Anne of Green Gables Licensing Authority.) The Anne of Green Gables Store probably has a the most complete selection of Anne-related goods, including chocolates!

Purchase tickets to Anne of Green Gables – the MusicalTM presented at the Confederation Centre of the Arts. Now in its 44th season, it is Canada’s longest running family musical and never fails to draw large and appreciative audiences from mid-June to mid-September.

Also be sure to check out the Confederation Centre Art Gallery’s Imagining Anne Exhibit which opens June 14th.

Or why not drive to Summerside to the Harbourfront Jubilee Theatre and attend Anne and Gilbert which continues the story of Anne of Green Gables – the MusicalTM through powerful song, dance and comedy. Starring some of Canada’s finest musical comedy actors, Anne and Gilbert follows Anne into young adulthood and her tumultuous romance with Gilbert Blythe, her childhood friend and rival.

Best Anne Buys:

Straw Hat with braids already attached
A Bend in the Road CD-Rom
Raspberry Cordial
Anne of Green Gables Society Memberships

10 Superpowers I Wish I Had

April 9, 2010 at 1:30 am (Uncategorized)

I’ve always wanted to have superpowers… These aren’t in any order – just the order that I thought of them.

1) Mind reading. It might sound a little wierd, but I’ve always wanted to know what people are thinking during one moment…

2) The power of moving things with your mind. I forget what it’s called… is it T-something? I want $5 000 000. Poof!

3) X-Ray Vision! It would be so cool to be able to see through things…

4) Time travel. Who wouldn’t love seeing their future?

5) Being able to move from one place to another by snapping your fingers.

6) Flying!

7) Super-speed. No more missing the bus, or coming in last place for track and field races!

8) Super-hearing.

9) How could I forget this one! Invisibility.

10) Super-strength. That one would definetly come in handy.

What super powers would you like to have? Comment below!

5 Reasons Why Writing Rocks!

March 25, 2010 at 12:05 am (Uncategorized)

I came up with all of these reasons why writing is so awesome! Here they are :

1) You use your imagination and creativity. Why wouldn’t you want to be known as the person who can always come up with super-neat ideas for anything?!

2) You can express yourself through words, and even release your stress depending on the kind of writing.

3) It passes time. When I have a notebook and a pen, I can entertain myself for hours.

4) People can see a whole new side of you. Just listening to somone or looking at someone doesn’t always show their entire personality.

5) Other people can get enjoyment out of your writing! Why not do something you love while you entertain someone?!

Please check out my writing at writerscircle.biz. My username is Taylorswift97 (Visit the Valued Contributers Page and I’ll be the fifth person listed.)

Keep on writing! Or, start writing if you haven’t yet. Anyone can find some kind of writing that they like.

10 Things I could NEVER Live Without

March 17, 2010 at 6:00 pm (Uncategorized)

I got the idea for this post from my friend. Visit her blog:

Here are the 10 things I could NEVER live without! 🙂 Feel free to count how many times I say “love.” (that one doesn’t count.)

*These aren’t in any order.

1) Food. I love to eat. Especially candy and chinese food. I know, I sound like a pig – but you have to admit you love food too.

2) My dog. No explanation. (If you have a dog, or had one in the past, you’ll understand what I mean.)

3) A notebook and pen. I love to write poems, and I am working on a novel.

4) Shopping!

5) My friends! You all know who you are.

6) My piano. I practice ALL day. Well maybe I exaggerated. I’ll keep it simple: me-piano=something is wrong.

7) Lush Handmade Cosmetics. Me+lush=happy.

8) Email. I am constantly emailing my friends…

9) Books. I ❤ reading. I love so many different authors and books.

10) Toiletries. (shampoo, tooth brush, hair brush, floss, soap etc.) I know. A bit boring. But I need to keep clean and well groomed!

Thanks for reading, and thanks to audreyhepburnfan for giving me this idea.

Wacky Things I Wish I had in my Room

March 9, 2010 at 8:10 pm (Uncategorized)

Today’s post is a really fun and random one. After looking at the title, it is pretty self explanitory. Let’s get started!

1) Those book shelves that go up to ceiling! I want those all around my walls, with a high ladder that slides around that is attached to the shelf so you can reach the top!

2) A pool. I know. As if. I want tropical fish and dolphins in it. And a water slide going into it. Fine, I’ll get
rid of the water slide – I’ll jump from the top of the book shelf ladder.

3) Trampolines as floors. I’d get to bounce around whenever I walked! No more jumping on the bed! Fine, I’ll jump on the floors instead.

4) A big freezer with tubs of icecream!

5) A giant wardrobe like the ones princesses always have in movies.

6) A bowling alley with glow in the dark balls.

7) Vines on the ceiling with monkeys hanging off of them!

As you can tell, I have quite the wild imagination. That would be a pretty cool room though, right? Thought you’d say yes. But how to fit it all in….

Tell me what wacky things you would have in your room!
